Michael Brudenell-Bruce, the Marquess of Ailesbury, was found dead on the patio of his long-term partner Teresa Marshall de Paoli.
He supposedly died after falling from a balcony while attempting to put his cat, Honeybun, out a first-floor window.
His 37-year-old friend spotted him in a pool of blood on the concrete paving stones.
Marshall de Paoli told The Sun: “It was a freak accident.” He was covered in blood. I begged him, ‘Oh, my darling, what has happened?’ but he had already died.”
She went on to add that police presumed she killed him, but that “there had not been a row – I hadn’t hit him”.
“I think the cat got her head stuck and he pushed [the window] up and lost his balance, and he fell onto the patio,” she said to me. “He fell, breaking the roses on the wall as he fell.”
“He could have been lying there for an hour or an hour and a half. He was cold and pallid.
“I grabbed a cushion and placed it under his head. I dialed 999 and reported that my spouse had been in an accident.
“The ambulance and police arrived within seven minutes, and a police officer and a woman confirmed his death.
“A police officer stated that death was instantaneous. “The police treated it as a crime.”
Marshall de Paoli was eventually let to visit her late husband again and spray his body with his favorite cologne.
Michael Brudenell-Bruce was a former Eton student, Royal Horse Guards captain, and stock broker. His family and friends are devastated by his unexpected death. He was related to Prince Harry’s ex, model and actress Florence Brudenell-Bruce.
