The idea of my house catching fire is one of my worst nightmares.
As a result, I always make sure my smoke alarms have functional batteries and unplug my phone charger before bed.
But this Kentucky warning from Jason Whitaker? It was something I had never heard of.
Jason Whitaker almost saw his house burn down in the fall of 2019.
He had been noticing an odd odor for some time, which he thought might be an electrical fire. He looked about his home for the source, but it took him some time to grasp that a catastrophe was imminent, according to Fox10.
Important caution
He eventually located the offender, a spiral lightbulb. Jason felt compelled to warn his friends and family on Facebook after realizing how close he had come to catastrophe.
He started his message by saying, “These light bulbs will burn your house down.”
What specifically led to the lightbulb burning, then?
Jason posted pictures of the lightbulb, showing that after four to five years in a lamp, it was now covered in ladybugs. It seemed like the ladybugs had settled in between the bulb’s spirals.
Since insects are drawn to light and warmth by nature, the interior of a spiral bulb provides both.
“You can see how nearly it ignited. I replaced every lightbulb. Check yours, please.
It appears that Jason wasn’t the only person who had a similar experience.
Examine your lightbulbs.
We just experienced this. The bulbs were there in the new home we moved into. “Replaced them now,” a user wrote.
You can fairly assume that Jason’s post has gone viral because it has been shared over 430,000 times thus far. Many people are still ignorant of the possible fire hazard these bulbs present, though.
Naturally, the intention isn’t to incite needless fear, and I don’t believe Jason intended it either.
However, this is absolutely worth looking into. Look around your house and check to see if any of these bulbs are in there. Examine the remaining lights while you’re at it. Although it takes little time, it has the potential to save lives!
Alright, everybody, just a brief warning I have experienced the tragedy of a house fire once. I kept getting the fragrance of…
