Prior to the tragic event that occurred on January 29, pilot Jonathan Campos, who was one of the two pilots of the American Airlines flight that crashed in mid-air with a helicopter belonging to the United States Army, had a sorrowful talk with his family.
The pilot was described as “such a good kid” by Campos’ loving uncle, John Lane, who was devastated by the news.
“I had a conversation with him as he was checking in for the flight. It took ten minutes for us to talk. I simply cannot believe it. Lane recalls that he sounded like he was having a great time.
It was with great anticipation that he anticipated embarking on a voyage the next week aboard the Icon of the Seas, the cruise ship. It was planned that ten members of his family would go to Florida in order to accompany him on the trip. An enormous party was supposed to be held for the occasion.
It was his dream to fly, and he looked forward to it. This was the dream that he was living. In addition, Lane mentioned that when he was a child, he used to collect toy airplanes. He aspired to fly larger aircraft and get qualified to do so. To put it simply, we are unwell at the moment. “The health of his mother is not very good.”
In 2015, Campos received his degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a concentration in Florida.
Beverly Lane, his aunt, told The New York Times that she believes her nephew yearned to be free and to have the ability to fly and soar like a bird.
Campos was honored by the Academy of Arts and Sciences. Jonathan Campos was a pilot on the PSA Airlines flight that was involved in the unfortunate accident that occurred yesterday night in Washington, District of Columbia. We are devastated to discover this news. In addition to serving as a valuable flight teacher here, Jonathan acquired his Certified Flight teacher certification while working with us.
Because of his apparent enthusiasm for flying, he was a pilot who was both skillful and dedicated. All of those who have lost their lives or been affected by this terrible tragedy are in our thoughts and prayers. Our sincere condolences go out to Jonathan’s family and friends. During this extremely trying time, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
According to the father of Sam Lilley, the other pilot on the plane that crashed and plummeted into the Potomac River, when he heard that there was a catastrophe, he did not believe that his son could have been involved in the accident.
During her two years of employment with American Airlines, Lilley, who was 29 years old at the time, was just a few months away from being promoted to the position of captain. In the same way that his father had served in the military for twenty years as a helicopter pilot, he, too, followed in his father’s footsteps.
According to the sources, the number of dead that have been recovered up to this time is forty. Having to complete the mission was made more difficult by the icy waters of the river.
