It is possible that the photograph is nothing more than a typical snapshot of a couple having a good time on vacation, two people who appear to have discovered their place in the world together.
Now, however, with everything that we know and the mysteries that were kept hidden behind the scenes, it is difficult to look at Tom Jones and Marjorie Wallace in the same way again.
It’s not quite Mr. Faithful, is it?
During the 1960s and 1970s, when Tom Jones was at the height of his career, he was a heartthrob who was famous for his wild lifestyle. It is said that he slept with hundreds of different women.
It has been previously acknowledged by Tom, who has embraced the position of a sex symbol, that during the height of his success, he had sexual encounters with 250 different women per year. At a time when interracial partnerships were still considered taboo in a significant portion of the United States, he had a brief affair with Mary Wilson, a member of the Supremes, which was one of his numerous high-profile affairs.
The catch is that Jones had a loyal wife named Linda at home while he was going through the motions of living out his ambitions of being a rock star. Their marriage lasted for 59 years till she passed away in 2016 due to the devastating effects of lung cancer.
A biographer named Sean Smith stated in an interview with the Daily Mail in 2015 that “from the very beginning, he was not exactly Mr Faithful.”
Despite the fact that it is not known how much Linda knew about the shady side of her husband, it is certain that she had a feeling that something was not quite right. As far as Sir Tom is concerned, the pair had a “don’t ask” policy in place when he was overseas on tour.
Jones is not shy about disclosing his legendary relationships, but his relationship with Marjorie Wallace stands out more than the others. Jones has never been shy about discussing his indiscretions.
Miss World was the first American to ever win the title.
The woman whose name would soon reverberate through the halls of history was Marjorie Wallace, who was born on January 23, 1954. She was a beauty queen, a television personality, a model, and an actor, and she captured the globe with her stunning beauty and unmistakable charm.
By the time Marjorie was just 14 years old, her life was turned upside down by the divorce of her parents, which sparked a rebellious streak in her.
With a companion by her side, she embarked on a road trip lasting 1,200 miles to Miami, demonstrating that she was not scared to follow her own impulses. She was already wanting adventure. Nevertheless, her adolescent years were not devoid of excitement; she also participated in the typical activities that are associated with high school, such as competitive swimming and cheering, which earned her a reputation for being both motivated and athletic.
As she grew older, she began to place a greater emphasis on engaging in romantic relationships with men. She moved in with a guitarist from the indie rock band Pure Funk when she was 17 years old, and it was around this time that she began to fully embrace the world of music and rebellion.
In 1973, she would do something that would forever etch her name into the annals of history: she would become the first American woman to ever win the title of Miss World. Marjorie, who was only 20 years old at the time, triumphed over 53 other competitors at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The title was more than just a crown; it was the beginning of a journey that would connect her fate with some of the most renowned personalities of her time. The voyage would entwine her with various historical characters.
A meeting with Tom Jones
When Marjorie, who was 19 years old at the time and had just been proclaimed Miss World, visited Tom in his dressing room at the London Palladium before his act, it was in December of 1973.
The spokesperson for him claims that he fell in love with her right away, and that they went to the Westbury Hotel in Mayfair together to celebrate their relationship. Because Marjorie and Linda’s birthdays were only a few days apart, Tom went out and purchased two bracelets the following month. He gave one to Marjorie and another to Linda.
Despite the fact that it was not unheard of for Tom to be associated to a variety of women, the American beauty queen stood out as extraordinary. It would appear that Tom revealed to his friends that “This one could really affect me.”

To participate in a television show about Miss World, Tom and Marjorie traveled to Barbados in 1974. However, their public display of affection, which consisted of kissing on the beach, resulted in Marjorie losing her crown. On the other hand, neither of them admitted to being in love with the other at the time.
The fact that Marjorie was also seeing Peter Revson, an American driver for the Indianapolis 500 and Formula One, and that she was apparently engaged to him was an issue for the English organizers of Miss World, who were known for their strict attitude.
In spite of the fact that she was engaged to Revson, she continued her affair with Tom Jones, which infuriated the person who established Miss World. After that, Revson was involved in a tragic accident that resulted in his death. The accident occurred during a practice run for the 1974 South African Grand Prix. In the process of traveling to a hospital, the race driver passed away while wearing a gold locket that Wallace had presented to him. The locket included the words “If not for you…” engraved on it.
An excessive amount of sleeping medications
The passing of Revson was, without a doubt, a traumatic experience for Marjorie; yet, it was not the only sorrowful development that afflicted her.
A decision was made by Tom to discontinue his relationship with Marjorie when he became aware that his childhood girlfriend Linda was soon to learn about the affair. An overdose of sleeping pills was taken by Marjorie, who was unable to cope with her heartbreak.
A spokeswoman for the hospital indicated that it was impossible to ascertain the exact number of tablets that Marjorie had consumed; however, she was put on a kidney dialysis machine in order to assist in the elimination of the drug from her system. The tragedy marked the end of a period of six months that had began with victory and concluded with anguish for the girl from a little village who had been chosen the most beautiful person in the world.
As described by Marjorie’s agency, the entire scenario was brought about by the fact that she was working too hard. That, in addition to the difficulties she was experiencing in her personal life, became too much for her to bear. “Finally, it all came down and hit her on top of the head and knocked her down,” agent Jeff Carey said in an interview with the Daily Record.
To her great relief, Marjorie was able to recover from the overdose, and she has consistently maintained that it was not an attempt at suicide. Alice, her mother, stated that her daughter “might have felt like she couldn’t go on,” although Wallace herself stated two years later, “I was depressed and overdosed on a few too many sleeping pills.” I have never made an attempt on my own life.
During the time that Marjorie was recuperating in the hospital in Indianapolis, Tom Jones gave her a bouquet of flowers and good wishes. This is a really interesting fact. Tom was in Las Vegas at the time, and he was taking part in a performance at the renowned Caesar Palace Hotel. In the drive, he was listening to the radio when he heard the news about Marjorie, and it left him feeling extremely shaken. According to Chris Hutchings, his spokesperson, Tom went through a difficult time after hearing the news. After she had recovered, she went to Mexico City to meet him a few months later.
On this day, Marjorie Wallace
Marjorie, who is now 71 years old, has always been interested in the entertainment industry.
She relocated to New York and tried her hand at television sportscasting with ABC and CBS after her brief connection with tennis great Jimmy Connors. Marjorie’s relationship with Jimmy Connors ended. In addition, she was shown in advertisements for several different businesses, including American Express, Wella, and Ultra Brite.
At a party in 1977, she was introduced to film producer Michael Klein, and the couple went on to get married in 1978. Adam was their son together. The next year, in 1981, she was one of the first co-anchors on Entertainment Tonight; however, a few months later, she declined a reporter job on the show.
The year 1982 marked the end of her marriage to Klein, and shortly thereafter, she was thought to be seeing Richard Cohen, who had previously been married to Tina Sinatra. Donald Soffer, a real estate entrepreneur, was her husband when she tied the knot in 1994; however, they separated in 1996.
With that being said, how did Tom and Marjorie actually come to an end?
It was discovered in the Sunday Mirror that Tom, who is now 84 years old, maintained communication with her after all these years. They had a conversation regarding his new position as a judge on The Voice not too long ago.
It was mentioned by Marjorie that “He is very happy to be doing it, and I told him that if it is as good as the American version, it will be a huge hit on the international stage.” “We remained friends, and we keep in touch quite frequently,” she continued. That is something that I have no interest in doing, and I would not want to revisit our connection in the same way that it was so long ago. However, it is nice to have a conversation with him over the phone every once in a while. The fact that he is going to be guiding upcoming singers is something that I am really happy about because I have always followed his career. He has a voice that is absolutely stunning.
Have you heard of this particular story? Wow, I had no idea! If one were to delve a bit deeper, it would be fascinating to see how a single picture can contain so much information.
