Cole Prochaska’s experience losing weight is proof of the strength of willpower and diligence. The 41-year-old man weighed more than 585 pounds just four years ago, but he has shed an amazing 360 pounds and is now a shell of his former self.
Prochaska struggled with overeating and a sedentary lifestyle for the most of his life, and his weight problems started at an early age. He consumed more than 5,000 calories a day, which included a 12-pack of Coke cans and many bags of chips. He frequently consumed a whole pizza or five cheeseburgers in one sitting.
But when Prochaska’s seven-year relationship ended, everything was different. He came to the realization that he needed to change, not only for himself but also to win back his loved ones’ respect.
Prochaska literally started his trip by taking tiny steps. He began taking small walks and eventually increased his daily step total to more than 10,000. Along with changing his diet, he eliminated sugary drinks, snacks, and sweets in favor of a high-protein diet that helped him gain muscle and provide him energy.
Prochaska’s confidence increased as the weight started to drop. He began going to the gym to work out and posting about his experience on social media. Many others have found inspiration in his narrative, and he has emerged as a ray of light for many who are dealing with their weight.
Prochaska’s journey is far from over, though. He continues to battle extra skin, which has made him feel self-conscious. In an effort to gain the confidence he needs to fully enjoy life, he is currently collecting money for skin removal surgery.
Prochaska’s tale serves as a reminder that losing weight affects mental and emotional health in addition to physical improvement. Many find encouragement in his tenacity and will, and his journey is proof of the value of diligence and hard work.
