To ensure that the gold is present, Elon Musk is requesting a “live video walkthrough.”
Elon Musk’s assertions that the $400 billion gold supply at Fort Knox might have vanished have been addressed by the officer in charge of the facility.
Since assuming leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk has been making some outrageous statements regarding the status of government spending.
The team will serve as an external advisor on federal spending, according to President Trump, even though it isn’t officially a government department.
Since assuming the position, Musk has been slashing through the government’s budget by terminating contracts and laying off large numbers of employees.
The CEO of Tesla has even gone so far as to assert that the renowned gold stockpiles held by the US government at Fort Knox have vanished.
The millionaire started to wonder whether the gold was “still there” or had “gone” on his own social media site, X, which was once Twitter.
Musk posted the following on Monday, February 17: “Who is verifying that gold wasn’t taken from Fort Knox?
“It might or might not be present. The American people own that gold! We would like to know if it remains.
To be sure it was there, Musk even went so far as to request a “live video walkthrough.”
“We hope everything’s fine with Fort Knox, but we’re going to go to Fort Knox…to make sure the gold is there,” Trump told the media in response to the controversy.
“We will be extremely upset if the gold is not present.”
The person in charge of the gold has now corrected the record.
“I can tell you that we do an audit every year,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Bloomberg. Right now, I can tell the American people on live that a report from September 30, 2024, contains all of the gold.
“Our office can set up a visit for any US senator who would like to come and see it.”
This week, Musk has also caused controversy by insulting an astronaut who exposed his “lie.”
This comes after the CEO of SpaceX asserted that two NASA astronauts, Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita “Suni” Williams, had been abandoned in orbit “for political reasons.”
Astronaut and former SpaceX pilot Andreas Mogensen reacted negatively to the comment by reposting the video on X and writing: “What a lie.” And from someone who gripes about the mainstream media’s lack of integrity.
Then, Musk stunned everyone by writing back, “You are completely r*******.” A few months ago, SpaceX had the opportunity to bring them back. The Biden administration rejected my direct offer of this. Political factors caused the return to be postponed. A fool.
“I have long admired you and what you have accomplished, especially at SpaceX and Tesla,” Mogensen retorted.
“Butch and Suni are returning with Crew-9, as has been the plan since last September, as you and I both know. You’re still not bringing them home with a rescue ship. The Dragon spacecraft, which has been on the ISS since last September, is carrying them back.
Trump reacts to Elon Musk’s proposal to reimburse Americans thousands of “DOGE dividends.”
Musk’s proposal to offer taxpayers 20% of savings appears to have the president’s support.
Elon Musk’s proposal to return thousands of dollars in “DOGE dividends” to Americans has drawn a response from President Donald Trump.
Along with his followers, Musk proposed that Americans receive a check for the “savings” that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is said to have made.
Additionally, it appears that Trump supports the concept.
The president supported the Tesla CEO’s proposal to return 20% of the savings directly to American taxpayers during a speech at a conference in Miami on Wednesday, February 19.
“Elon, the numbers are amazing,” Trump remarked. There are hundreds of billions, billions, and billions. We’re considering returning 20% to American citizens and the remaining 20% to debt repayment.
“By doing this, Americans will be reporting waste to us and letting us know where it is.”
The intended use of the remaining 60% of the savings has not yet been disclosed.
Contract cancellations and widespread government employee layoffs have accounted for the majority of DOGE’s federal spending cuts.
Numerous lawsuits are being filed against the group, which is an outside advisor rather than a government department.
“Given the very small share of federal spending that has been reduced, the American people could possibly take their dividend to Starbucks for half off one coffee,” Jessica Riedl, a senior scholar at the right-leaning think tank Manhattan Institute, told The Washington Post.
“Any savings should go to deficit reduction rather than another tax refund when the budget deficit is $2 trillion and Congress is planning to add hundreds of billions more dollars.”
Under the idea, which would involve Musk cutting federal spending by an astounding $2 trillion, 78 million households that pay federal income taxes would each receive $5,000, according to James Fishback, CEO of investment firm Azoria.
Many individuals are concerned that the changes that will be made to reach this new budget could affect important things like Medicare benefits payments, which has raised concerns.
“Our proposal for the president is simple: Taxpaying households should receive $1 for every $5 of total savings that DOGE delivers,” Fishback posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Musk replied, “I’ll check with the president.”
And Trump discussed the concept in Miami the very next day.
