Following remarks she made regarding Barron Trump in a recent interview, the leader of the New York University College Republicans has resigned.
Barron graduated from Florida’s Oxbridge Academy in May and has been enrolled at New York University’s Stern School of Business since September.
However, Kaya Walker, the president of the New York University College Republicans, found herself in hot water last week (12 February) after making a remark about Trump’s son’s behavior on college.
Walker told Vanity Fair that Barron, 18, “goes to class, he goes home,” and that the 78-year-old president’s youngest son is “sort of like an oddity on campus.”
Regarding the school’s historically liberal beliefs, she also told the site that one of her professors made a joke about the kid saying that she “doesn’t really belong here.”
In addition, one of Barron’s friends related how he asked to play basketball with him and said that although he appeared eager, he felt that “he wasn’t really allowed to do stuff” because plainclothes Secret Service officials were closely watching.
College Republicans of America (CRA) has released a statement on Walker’s remarks.
It starts this way: “The College Republicans of America (CRA) would like to speak out directly regarding the President of our New York University (NYU) chapter in light of recent reports.
“We have been made aware of a statement made by the NYU chapter President that does not align with the values and principles upheld by our organisation.”
The CRA accused Vanity Fair of ‘unfairly portraying what was said’, noting: “We still judged it to be unacceptable after review. Last night, the president of the NYU branch resigned.
“CRA broke with 100 years of precedent when we endorsed President Trump, being the first national College Republican organization to endorse a candidate before the beginning of the primary season,” the statement, which was posted to X on Monday, February 17, said.
“During the primary and general elections, CRA made over a million voter contacts, deploying hundreds of our students to wherever the Trump campaign needed them.
In response to recent events with our NYU chapter, College Republicans of America formally invites Barron Trump to join us in reshaping the Republican Party. https://t.co/ydxk0gVC9x pic.twitter.com/P56fNsFqyU

“Our support for President Trump is, and has been, a pillar of our organisation.”
Will Donahue, the CRA’s president, was “extending an invitation to join CRA to the President’s son,” according to the statement.
“Barron Trump represents the future of the conservative movement, and we would be honoured to have him join College Republicans of America,” Donahue stated.
“Resilience, bravery, and the humility to rise beyond petty animosity are the foundations of strong leadership, and Barron has already shown these traits. Barron is cordially invited to assist us in determining the direction of our party.
Trump is the father of four children from two additional marriages: Tiffany Trump with Marla Maples, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric Trump with Ivana Trump, in addition to Barron, whom he shares with Melania.
