The Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend promises to be another spectacle for fans of American football. Travis Kelce of the Chiefs made a remark before the Super Bowl that upset his girlfriend.
In particular, many Swifties, or Taylor Swift fans, were urged to warn her to “run away” from the president after Kelce declared that performing in front of him would be a “great honor.”
“I would end our relationship right away if my boyfriend claimed that it was a great honor to have the man who constantly disparages me,” someone wrote. “No, Travis, having that man there isn’t amazing or an honor. “His entire response was just yikes,” someone else said.
Their response to Kelce’s comment was prompted by President Donald Trump’s previous comments against the artist, including his claim that he “hates her.”
Swift’s public endorsement of Trump’s opponent Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential race prompted Trump to make his remarks about her. Swift stated at the time, “If we are led by calm and not chaos, we can accomplish so much more in this country.”
Swift, however, has defended her boyfriend Travis Kelce, stating that his remarks were not a direct support of Trump but rather of the nation’s leader’s stance, whoever that may be.
“It’s awesome,” Kelce said when asked about his experience playing in front of the president prior to the Super Bowl. In my opinion, it is an honor regardless of the president.
He went on to say, “I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life and it’s pretty cool to have the President there. It’s the best country in the world.”
According to those close to the couple, Travis Kelce had no intention of making any political statements.
He only expressed respect for the role of a national president by speaking on behalf of his team.
The Daily Mail was informed by sources that Swift is not upset with Kelce. The insider stated, “This is not what Travis said at all, even though his quote was interpreted as showing support for Trump.”
