In a recent podcast, Meghan Markle discussed the uncommon postpartum illness.
In the first episode of her new podcast, Meghan Markle talked candidly about a “scary” health condition she had after becoming pregnant.
Surprisingly, the Duchess of Sussex talked about a health worry she had after becoming pregnant in her new podcast, Confessions Of A Female Founder, which was published today, April 8.
The podcast tracks the mother of two as she embarks on a number of new endeavors, such as her lifestyle line As Ever and her Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
The royal spoke with Whitney Wolfe Herd, the creator of the dating app Bumble, during the program about the difficulties she faces in her role as CEO and how she got there.
The two became close because they both shared a postpartum health issue, which Meghan acknowledged was a “scary” period of her life.
“Even though we were strangers at the time, we both experienced postpartum depression and preeclampsia in very similar ways. preeclampsia following childbirth,” Meghan revealed.
According to her, “It’s so rare and so scary.” The 43-year-old talked about coping with the illness and attempting to keep her life in the spotlight.
“You’re still attempting to balance all of these things, and the world is unaware of what’s going on in the background,” she remarked.
“And in the quiet, you’re still trying to show up for people mostly for your children but those things are huge medical scares.”
Her guest concurred that the situation was dire and went on to say, “I mean life or death, truly.”
“A rare condition that occurs when you have high blood pressure and excess protein in your urine soon after childbirth” is how the Mayo Clinic describes postpartum preeclampsia.
This illness needs ‘rapid treatment’ because it can lead to seizures and other major health problems if it is not treated.
Postpartum preeclampsia symptoms include:
Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is defined as 140/90 mm Hg or higher.
Urine that contains too much protein (proteinuria)
Excruciating headaches
Vision changes, such as transient blindness, blurred vision, or light sensitivity
Pain in the upper abdomen, commonly on the right side beneath the ribs
Vomiting and feeling queasy
Breathlessness
Reduced urination
Eight episodes of Meghan’s new podcast, which examines both her and the female founders’ entrepreneurial journeys, will be included.
Harry’s arrival in the UK yesterday to take on another court dispute involving taxpayer-funded security protection coincided with the podcast’s launch.
In 2020, the prince resigned from his position as a working royal, changing his taxpayer-funded protection.
He has been “singled out for different, unjustified, and inferior treatment,” according to his attorney.
Due to privacy concerns, he and Meghan have made a concerted effort to keep their two young children, Princess Lilibet, age three, and Prince Archie, age five, mostly out of the spotlight.
But lately, the couple has been sharing glimpses of their lives with their children, such as content from Meghan’s new Instagram account and a contentious letter they released for Christmas.
“The UK is central to my children’s heritage and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they currently live in the US,” Prince Harry stated during a prior court hearing over security.
“That cannot happen if it’s not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil.”
