The season of Halloween is a time for having fun, becoming scared, and experiencing a little bit of darkness. During this time of year, we anticipate seeing spooky decorations hanging from every available surface. Even if the holiday season is approaching, it is not yet time to celebrate.
The fact that Halloween is drawing close, however, does not mean that we cannot be charitable. A TikTok video that was uploaded by a Halloween lover for the purpose of spreading this message has subsequently gone viral.
Halloween is a day that Salena Webb adores. In the same way that many other people do, she celebrates Halloween by decorating her yard with Halloween-themed decorations. She is a mother of four and hails from South Carolina. Ghosts, spiderwebs, pumpkins, a witch, tombstones, and skeletons carrying a casket were all elements that went into Salena’s graveyard scene, which she made in her front yard. The show was set up, which required a significant amount of time. However, when her neighbor presented her with a request to remove it, she consented to the request.
@thatsnorthsense My family knows i loveeee Halloween and my decorations took me awhile to make and put up. I had just purshased the skeleton carrying the casket to go along with my graveyard to really set my halloween decor off this year🥴 I was a little sad at first but i thought about the bigger picture. Me removing my casket isnt hurting me at all but it may ease and bring my neighbor a little bit of peace as he adjusts to this news. Kindness is free and compassion goes a long way. Now what to replace it with🥴😩#Thatsnorthsense #dailyvlog #compassionforothers #halloween2023 #loveyourneighborasyourself
To make things simpler for his old father, her neighbor requested that she take down some of the decorations.
In a video that she uploaded to TikTok, Salena described the circumstance in which her neighbor came to her house to make the request. The neighbor is heard saying, “Hey, I know you’re celebrating Halloween,” on the video. Just recently, my father was given a diagnosis of lung cancer. According to him, the decorations are a little bit frightening. Afterwards, he indicates the location of the graveyard and inquires, “Would it be possible for you to remove the casket that is there?”
@thatsnorthsense Replying to @JennAngel 🪱🌈🪐☁️🪅💠 maybe some can now understand why they were a little touchy about it and at night theres fog that i have come out from it🤣 so i get it.. #Thatsnorthsense #dailyvlog #compassionforothers #halloween2023 #loveyourneighborasyourself
Immediately, Salena experienced feelings of sympathy. She was aware of the significance of removing the casket because her neighbor’s father frequently spends time in his garage, which borders her yard. A statement that she made to Insider stated, “I didn’t want to be a reminder of what could happen if he doesn’t beat cancer.” I didn’t want to make someone else’s life more difficult than it already was.
Following the removal of the casket, Salena presented the skeletons with badminton rackets as an alternative. Those decorations that were more frightening were relocated to her backyard. The commentary that Salena included on her TikTok post said, “At first, I was a little sad. However, I came to the realization that taking away the casket wouldn’t hurt me, but it might help my neighbor feel better as he deals with this news.” There is no cost associated with being kind, and compassion may go a long way.
Many individuals lauded Salena for the generosity she shown. She uploaded the video to her channels and posed a question to her followers, asking them what they would have done if they had been in her shoes. Although there were others who stated that they would not have removed their decorations, there were also many who complimented Salena for her kindness.
This is the essence of what it means to be a pleasant neighbor. The act of being kind does not cost anything. One person commented, “Thank you very much indeed!”
According to the words of another individual, “This was handled beautifully.” More people like you are desperately needed in this world! You are blessed by God!
A neighbor of Salena’s also expressed gratitude for her kind act. She brought him a note and some balloons after she had removed the casket from the space. Even though they were unable to communicate with one another due to language barriers, she could see that he was grateful. He remarked to her, “You are a fine group of people.”
