He was 91.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-160 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/davisrubin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/erges-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"921\" height=\"1151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davisrubin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/erges-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/davisrubin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/erges.jpg 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 921px) 100vw, 921px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jack Lilley\u2019s career<br \/>\nThe backstory:<\/p>\n<p>Lilley played multiple roles on \u201cLittle House on the Prairie,\u201d his fellow \u201cLittle House\u201d star Melissa Gilbert said. His main role was as a stagecoach driver often seen transporting the characters in between towns on a horse-drawn carriage.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED: \u2018Rosetta\u2019 actress dies of rare cancer at 43, report says<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Hollywood actor worked on the popular 1970s television series and was featured in several made-for-television movies in the \u201cLittle House\u201d franchise, including \u201cLittle House: Look Back to Yesterday\u201d in 1983 and \u201cThe Last Farewell\u201d and \u201cBless All the Dear Children,\u201d both of which aired in 1984, Fox News Digital reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAside from being Victor French\u2019s photo double, he was featured prominently in many different roles on Little House. You can also see his absolute brilliance in the film Blazing Saddles,\u201d Gilbert wrote on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>Gilbert said she and Lilley reconnected in 2002 for a western pilot for ABC.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI walked to the set itself and before I could even focus I heard a familiar voice holler, \u2018Hey Halfpint, you old rat-ass!!!\u2019\u201d Gilbert recalled. \u201cIt was Jack. He was our wrangler for that pilot. \u201cIn that instant, I knew I was home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to USA Today, Lilley moved to Los Angeles from Texas as a child so his father could rent horses to movie studios. He followed in his father\u2019s footsteps as a stuntman and has credits in more than 280 films. Lilley\u2019s son Clay still runs the Movin\u2019 On Livestock motion picture horse rental business from New Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jack Lilley tributes<br \/>\nWhat they\u2019re saying:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was one of a kind,\u201d Clint Lilley said. \u201cWe got a glimpse of the old Hollywood \u2026 because he came out of that \u2026 and seen the transition. He\u2019s seen so much change in the industry and we were kind of raised around it as little kids. We got to see when it was done back in the day, compared to now.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe taught us, we had to work for it and nothing was going to be handed to you, you have to go get it \u2026 he made sure [of] that \u2026,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019m thankful for that, because he wanted to make sure that we were grounded. He wanted to make sure that [we know] \u2026 it\u2019s a privilege, it\u2019s a blessing to be in the industry \u2026 I\u2019m forever grateful for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Gilbert shared a lengthy tribute to Lilley on Instagram, calling him \u201cone of my favorite people on the planet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe taught me how to ride a horse when I was just a wee little thing. He was so patient with me. He never said no when I would bound up to him squealing, \u2018Can we go ride? Please, please, please?\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cJack always felt like home to me. He lived quite a life. I am so lucky that he was my friend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His son Clay also posted a moving tribute to his father on social media.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe card shark, the horse trader, the wrangler, the man with a story for everything, he always knew someone who could help if he couldn\u2019t, known to many as friend, storyteller, joker, and a heck of a horseman, and his favorite, PAPA,\u201d Clay Lilley wrote. \u201cYou left one heck of a mark on this world, Papa.
