Sadly, Emily Gold, a 17-year-old cheerleader with skill and a cherished member of her high school community, has died. At Los Osos High School, Emily was a senior and the varsity dance captain. Her teammates greatly valued her kindness, commitment, and leadership.
“It is with such a heavy heart that we share the passing of our beautiful, kind, and loving Emily Gold,” the school’s dance team wrote in an emotional Instagram post on September 16.
The chance to perform on America’s Got Talent was recently given to Emily and her group, who had an unforgettable debut in the quarterfinals. Judge Simon Cowell praised their act as “absolutely brilliant” and gave them a standing ovation for their performance, which was greeted with tremendous enthusiasm.
He complimented the team’s high level of energy and said their performance reminded him of the well-known High School Musical. Emily’s love of dancing and her innate ability as a leader and performer enthralled audiences as she took the stage.
Emily’s family, friends, and community are devastated by her unexpected passing. Touching tributes have been posted online by friends, classmates, and those who knew her. One close friend wrote, “She will be missed dearly.” I hope she finds peace.
The fact that Emily committed suicide, as certified by the San Bernardino Coroner’s Office, has raised awareness of mental health issues among her school community and beyond. A GoFundMe effort has been started to help Emily’s family through this trying time, and it has raised $25,000 so far.
Emily’s death serves as a reminder that everyone should watch out for one another and provide assistance, especially to young people who could be going through difficult times in private. The community keeps spreading compassion and resources to support those in need in her honor.
