Prior to the tragedy, a Navy Seal veteran who flew the helicopter that crashed into the Hudson River in New York City made a terrifying call.
To celebrate Ms. Camprubí’s birthday, Agustín Escobar and Mercè Camprubí Montal had brought their three children—Agustín, 10, Mercè, 8, and Víctor, 4—from Spain to the United States.
The plane crashed over the waters off Manhattan, killing everyone.
The pilot of the aircraft has recently been identified as Seankese “Sean” Johnson, 36.
The owner of the deadly aircraft has disclosed that the pilot had radioed base to inform them that they were heading back to the helipad for refuelling.
“He called in that he was landing and that he needed fuel, and it should have taken him about three minutes to arrive, but twenty minutes later, he did not arrive,” Michael Roth told The Telegraph.
The 71-year-old is the owner of New York Helicopter, a business that offers city tours by helicopter.
We’re all inconsolable. Every worker in our organisation is inconsolable. My wife is still crying uncontrollably.
My phone blew up from everyone after I received a call from my manager and my downtown heliport, who stated she had heard of a crash.
“The helicopter was upside down when one of my pilots flew over the Hudson.”

Nearer the New Jersey side, the tragedy occurred on Thursday at approximately 3:15 p.m.
According to radar data, it flew north along the skyline of Manhattan before turning back south in the direction of the Statue of Liberty.
Just fifteen minutes after takeoff, Johnson was operating the helicopter when it crashed into the river at great speed.
As the craft nose-dived into the lake, footage showed its rotor tearing apart, sending debris flying into the air.
Bruce Wall, a witness there, claimed to have seen the main rotor and tail come off as it “fell apart” in midair. As it dropped, the main rotor continued to spin without the aircraft.
Although an official reason has not yet been established, the incident is being investigated.
According to video, a “catastrophic mechanical failure” left the pilot with no prospect of saving the chopper, according to aviation lawyer Justin Green, a former Marine Corps helicopter pilot.
According to Green, it’s probable that the main rotors of the helicopter collided with the tail boom, shattering it and allowing the cabin to fall freely.
“As soon as whatever happened, they were dead,” Green stated.
They don’t appear to have had any authority over the craft. Once they lost the lifts, no pilot could have stopped that mishap. It like a rock hitting the earth. It’s devastating.
