Zelenskyy has posted video of Chinese nationals he claims were apprehended while serving in the Russian military.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, two Chinese nationals who were serving in the Russian army on Ukrainian soil have been taken prisoner by his nation’s armed forces.
The fact that Russia had enlisted North Korean soldiers in its army for Vladimir Putin’s now three-year-old invasion of Ukraine was already well known.
Last year, the BBC also revealed that Indians had been sent to the front lines as “helpers” for the Russian army.
Zelenskyy has since shared video on social media, claiming that the Ukrainian military has apprehended two Chinese nationals who were fighting for Russia and calling on China to respond.
“Two Chinese citizens who were fighting as part of the Russian army have been captured by our military,” he stated. This took place in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. They were found to be in possession of identification documents, bank cards, and personal information.
According to the information we have, the occupier’s units contain far more Chinese nationals than simply these two. Intelligence, the Ukrainian Security Service, and the appropriate Armed Forces units are actively working on it to confirm all the facts.
“I’ve told Ukraine’s foreign minister to get in touch with Beijing right away and find out how China plans to react to this.
“China’s and other nations’ direct and indirect engagement in this European conflict is a blatant indication that Putin has no intention of putting an end to the conflict. He’s trying to figure out how to keep fighting. There must be an answer to this. a reaction from the US, Europe, and everyone else who desires peace worldwide.
“The Ukrainian Security Service is currently holding the apprehended Chinese nationals.
“Relevant investigative and operational actions are ongoing.”
The captured Chinese soldier in the video that Zelenskyy posted on social media said that a drone strike had attacked him.
The imprisoned soldier, his hands zip-tied together, seemed to narrate explosions and the wounding of his captain.
Another 160,000 men were called up to join the Russian invasion campaign earlier this month by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
Russia recently launched missile strikes on the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, killing 20 people, including nine children, and has rebuffed efforts to negotiate a ceasefire.
Additionally, Zelenskyy just verified that Ukrainian forces had launched another counteroffensive into Belgorod, Russia.
Although Ukraine was able to send troops into Kursk in the past, they have now been forced to leave the majority of the territory they had captured.
Three years after the start of their invasion, Russia now controls almost 20% of Ukrainian territory.
