Prominent plus-size travel influencer Emily Jones has advocated for the travel industry to better serve travelers with curvy bodies.
Jones, who frequently travels between Malta, the UK, and Helsinki, utilizes her position to offer advice on how hotels and airlines may make their services more inclusive so that all passengers, regardless of size, have a comfortable stay.
Jones’s support is a component of a larger initiative to encourage diversity in the travel industry.
She shares her travels and inspires people of all shapes and sizes to travel the world via her Instagram account, @miss__jones.
She states, “I want to encourage easy travel for people of all shapes and sizes – and give them the impression that they deserve to see the world like everyone else.” Her goal is for the travel media to portray larger people in a way that makes everyone feel secure and accepted.
Jones suggests that airlines disclose the availability of seatbelt extensions during the boarding process as a major shift. She notes that requesting a seatbelt extension is a major source of worry for plus-size travelers, based on her experiences and responses she receives online. “It would be a dream come true to see this de-stigmatized so people can travel in comfort and without the extra anxiety,” she says. Jones also highlights how uncomfortable airline seats are for larger travelers in general. She supports the availability of extra cushioning and movable armrests, or at the very least, more roomy seating alternatives. Regardless of body size, these changes would help guarantee that every passenger may have a more comfortable trip.
Jones emphasizes the need for improved hotel facilities in addition to air travel. Noting that even small adjustments can greatly improve the comfort and feeling of welcome for plus-size customers, she recommends that hotel companies provide larger towels and plus-sized bathrobes.
Jones talks about her good experiences while still recognizing the difficulties plus-size tourists endure. She specifically mentions that one of the most inviting destinations she has been to was the Seychelles in Africa, which provides a friendly atmosphere for larger travelers.
