Adam Sandler loudly stomped out of the Dolby Theatre after Conan O’Brien singled him out amid the star-studded audience for attending the opulent Academy Awards in a casual dress.
Hollywood’s A-list strolled the red carpet outside the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 2, the day before the 97th Academy Awards, which honor the best in the business.
Celebrities made a great impression at the season’s last major awards show with their most stunning ensembles, which included sweeping gowns, dramatic silhouettes, fitted suits, and lots of sparkle.
And then there was Adam Sandler.
Casual and comfortable
TV comedian Conan O’Brien, 61, who was hosting the 2025 Oscars, stated, “It’s important that everyone is properly dressed, okay?” “You’re wearing nice clothes. Adam.
When O’Brien gave his much anticipated opening monologue, Sandler was sitting in the audience, surrounded by elegant celebrities in their best Oscar gear.
“What’s up, my brother, Conan?” stated the 58-year-old Happy Gilmore star, who was seated in an aisle seat with his Steph Curry sneakers and shorts on and the hood of his light blue hoodie covering his head. “Dude, what’s going on?”
Sandler stutters a little and responds, “Nobody even thought about what I was wearing until you brought it up,” after O’Brien asks him what he’s wearing.
The 50 First Dates star is then told by O’Brien, “You’re dressed like a guy playing video poker at 2 a.m., Adam.”
In true Sandler fashion, the Grown Ups star defended himself by saying, “You know what, I like the way I look, because I’m a good person.” What I wear or don’t wear doesn’t matter to me. If you were so offended by my stylish workout shorts and fluffy sweatshirt that you felt compelled to make fun of me in front of my peers…
O’Brien smirked, looked down to the podium behind him, and hastily apologized from the stage.
Sandler stood up and announced to the crowd, “I’m leaving. I must go, I must go!
The comedian said, “No, it’s not you, it’s him,” while the audience yelled, “no!” and pleaded with him to stay.
“You caused this!” Sandler then pointed to O’Brien, who was fighting to control his laughs during the amusing conversation.
Sandler invited everyone to join him for a game of five-on-five basketball at Veteran Park tonight before departing the ceremony. tip-off at midnight. “I have the guy from Nosferatu on my team,” he said in jest.
Nod from the Golden Globes
After that, Sandler continued down the aisle toward 29-year-old Timothée Chalamet, who was nominated for his performance in the 2024 film A Complete Unknown.
“And something else. CHALAMET! After shouting in the actor’s ear and hugging him, Sandler left the Dolby theater to thunderous ovation from the crowd.
At the Golden Globes earlier this year, host Nikki Glaser joked that Chalamet’s name sounded like something Sandler would say in one of his signature exaggerated voices.
There was a lot of hilarity when Sandler responded in typical Sandler fashion when Glaser asked him to say Chalamet’s name out loud.
