“’90s Best Friendships vs. Today: How Times Have Changed!”

The person with whom we would have late-night phone calls, gossip about our strict parents, and arrange matching outfits is a special best friend from the 1990s that we all remember fondly.

When compared to the greatest friends we had back then, there are many things that have changed, but there are also some things that have remained the same. For example, we continue to talk on the phone late at night and share juicy gossip. We might even continue to coordinate our outfits while acting as if it was a complete and utter coincidence. In point of fact, not much has changed; we are simply older and drink more wine for our enjoyment.

They are like the siblings we never had. Best friends are like that. Even if we had siblings, it’s possible that we wouldn’t have had a pleasant relationship with them. We would call our best friend and cry to her when our crush was seen holding hands with another person on the playground. Our siblings could have taken our favorite toys or embarrassed us, but our best friend was the person we would call to play a joke on us.

Even though certain things have changed a little bit, we would not be where we are now if it weren’t for our closest friends, whether they were with us in the 1990s or with us now.

1. The Conflicts That We Engage In

The year was the 1990s, and your best friend had made a vow to look after your digital pet while you were away on vacation, but she ended up letting it pass away. Following that, you simply were unable to glance at her in the same manner.

We don’t really fight like that anymore, at least not at this moment. As an alternative, we engage in passive-aggressive behavior by leaving remarks on Facebook and by purposefully avoiding liking each other’s accounts on Instagram.

2. How We Reconcile ourselves Afterward

Before the advent of smartphones in the 1990s, the only way to settle a dispute with your best friend was to hand her a letter in the classroom. After that, you would finish it off with “LYLAS,” which stands for “love you like a sister,” just in case anyone forgot our abbreviations. You would fill it with frown faces, dot the i’s with hearts to demonstrate how unhappy you were without her.

Now: In order to move past the situation, making up typically entails purchasing a $12 beverage from Starbucks and taking a selfie of the two of you smiling together.

3. Entertainment in the evening on Fridays

Just before slipping into an R-rated movie, we would go to the mall and get false nose rings from Claire’s. This would happen right before we went to the movie. Our perception was that we were quite defiant.

Now, who goes out these days at all? Not us at all! Simply provide us with a bottle (or twelve) of wine and something to binge watch on Netflix, and we will be completely satisfied. What do you say, “FriYAY”?

4.As a Wingwoman in the Play

You would have a dramatic run-in with your best friend during science class in the 1990s, after you had discovered who your real love was with a cootie catcher. At the same time, your best friend would keep other girls at bay.

At this point, every best friend understands that the best way to assist you in finding a love that will last is to spend fourteen hours searching for him on Facebook, with only his middle name as a clue.

5. Targets by the Squad

During the 1990s, the most important thing in life was to locate a few more females who were just as cool as you were so that you could act like the Spice females.

Now, the good news is that you only need one more person to perform the “Single Ladies” dance. However, given that you are no longer a people person, your best friend is more than sufficient for carrying out this dance.
